THE RESPONSE

There is an art to life. That is, to live it.

If you visit the Sanctuary Living website, you will find a collection of words there that happen to be how I choose to live—

Paint the world with the color of your soul.

This week I am harnessing my own advise—

Despite the hardest of hard news.

In the midst of confusion that comes in grey waves.

The only response to the darkness is not simply to let in the light, but to wash everything around me…and in me…with the colors of new life, evident and permeating.

If I am molded in the image of my Creator, then my mandate is to create—not to join in the news of deconstruction going on within me, but to agree with the vitality of the trees and flowers.

“Manifest” literally means, “The Dancing Hands of God.”

His creation is vast and incomprehensible, infinitely more expansive than this inclination to focus on these tiny, rogue cells. His hands never falter. And they never give in or up.

Pouring yourself into the things you can control…when everything feels out of control…is not only productive, it’s transformative.

When we manifest something beautiful in the midst of our challenges we inform every cell in our bodies that we intend not only to fight…but thrive.

NOTES:

In the midst of disheartening physical news*, I have pushed my body to the edge of what I’m capable of, sending it the message that I am designed not to yield but to Create.

Cells listen to what we tell them. They are susceptible to words…and actions…that speak LIFE.

Over the past four weeks I brought that life-giving spirit to the garden, transforming it into a space of healing and rest.

I believe the images speak loud and clear…God isn’t done with me yet.

*More specific news to come about recent cancer developments and fascinating treatments ahead.

BEFORE AND AFTER IMAGES: Thank you, dear friend, Cody/Bugle Remodel and Ron Kraft for your love-infused execution of a challenging design. Next week the finishing work begins—sanding and staining the woodwork, completing the outdoor kitchen, and [of course] more trees and flowers.
